Undergraduate Research Assistant Positions Available: Work at the Vision Lab!
The Vision Laboratory is currently seeking undergraduate research assistants interested in experimental research in cognitive science. Research assistants may work on a voluntary basis, a minimum commitment of 6 hours per week is required.
What we do in the lab:
We study the human brain and ask questions about vision, decision making, attention, consciousness, motor planning (how we move our eyes, head, hands…), space representation, learning and memory.
What you will learn with us:
- Data mining, statistics and optimization
- Graphical (video) programming (basically like video game programming)
- Programming using Matlab or C++ with OpenGL or DirectX
- How to capture and analyze people's movements (of the eyes, hand, head or all body)
- How to design cognitive and physiological experiments and analyze and interpret people's behavior
What we are looking for:
The following skills are desirable (but not mandatory)
- Computer Science:
o Basic programming (C++, Basic, Java, Matlab, Python, perl, Mathematica…)
o Basic graphic programming (DirectX, OpenGL…)
o Some experience in data mining
- Math: linear algebra, geometry, basic stats and probability
